About us

SOVEREIGN was born from a simple belief: Getting dressed should feel effortless. In a world where women are constantly moving between work, social plans, everyday moments and celebrations, we believe your wardrobe should make life easier—not give you more decisions to make. We wanted to challenge that. What if one beautiful co-ord could become many different looks? That question became the foundation of SOVEREIGN, a contemporary Indian fashion label built around beautifully designed co-ord sets that are made to do more. Our co-ords are designed to move with you. Style them with understated accessories for work. Give them a relaxed touch for brunch. Elevate them with statement jewellery and heels for an evening or celebration. One co-ord. Multiple possibilities.

Shimpi Rizvi Khan, Founder

SOVEREIGN was founded by Shimpi Rizvi Khan, an MBA in Marketing with over a decade of corporate experience, driven by an entrepreneurial vision she had nurtured since the early years of her career. After becoming a mother, she consciously chose to take a career break, but never a break from learning. During this chapter of her life, she continued to invest in herself, acquiring skills in Advanced Digital Marketing, Advanced Excel and Professional Makeup Artistry, among others. When the time came to return to the professional world, she knew she wanted to build a business of her own; the only question was which path to pursue. Guided by the belief that passion should be at the heart of one's profession, the answer came naturally—fashion. Her love for dressing and self-expression had been woven into her childhood, from experimenting with her mother's clothes, handbags, makeup and high heels to developing an enduring appreciation for the artistry behind fashion. Her entrepreneurial journey into fashion is also deeply rooted in her family heritage. Her mother ran a boutique and built a garment business whose wedding and bridal collections found their way into showrooms in Delhi and Mumbai, following in the footsteps of her own mother—Shimpi's grandmother Naani—who was an exceptionally gifted designer and craftsman. A remarkable woman with an instinctive eye for colours and design, she created and stitched Chatapati Ghararas herself, while also training and employing women in Lucknow, enabling many of them to build a livelihood through their craft. Her work earned recognition from the Government of Rajasthan and was also featured in a magazine. Shimpi considers her grandmother the strongest influence behind her own innate connection with fashion. SOVEREIGN is, therefore, not merely the beginning of a fashion brand; it is the continuation of a legacy of creativity, craftsmanship and entrepreneurial spirit across generations. With gratitude, Shimpi also acknowledges the unwavering support and guidance of her husband, whose encouragement has been an integral part of her journey into entrepreneurship.
